Professional Development
Lagniappe Academies is committed to providing all teachers with ongoing professional development in a variety of areas, including instructional methodologies and strategies, behavior management, student motivation, positive education, team-building and family and community outreach.
Throughout the year, teachers will have opportunities to visit and learn from high performing schools around the country.
All teachers participate in an annual retreat and teacher institute each summer and teach during a 3-week Summer Academy. During Summer Academy, teachers assess and develop relationships with students before the school year begins. Teachers also have the opportunity to attend external professional development that addresses individual interests and needs.
School is dismissed early on Fridays for staff-wide internal professional development. This includes common planning time, opportunities to address individual student concerns as a staff, plan school-wide initiatives, collaborate with other local educators, and to hear from experts on a wide variety of topics.
